1. What is Web and Email hosting?

Hosting business begins with a collection of Web and Email servers computers stored in secure and climate-controlled environments and permanently linked to the Internet through high-speed data lines. Hosting account user is similar to have own private web server with 24hrs online to Internet.

2. How to choose my suitable hosting plan?

Webnix has provided many hosting plans to meet our customer's need. To choose a suitable hosting plan for yourself is depending on your usage:

4. What is the application procedure?

You need to fill in the application form (pdf format) and fax to (852)2729-7751 or contact our account manager for enquiry of application form

5. How long does it take to setup my account?

It takes around less than 24 hours to setup your account excluding domain name registration. Once an account is set up an activation notice will be sent to you via email or phone contact including your user-ID, password, and FTP hostname. You can begin uploading files to your new web site immediately.

6. Notification

After the account setup is completed, our sales or account manages will send your account information by email or notification letter to applicants.

7. How to upload your site to hosting account?

Users can login your web site by using FTP software or Windows Explorer with your username and password. User can upload your web site files under the directory "public_html" in your account.

8. Does Webnix provide any add-on services for hosting?

Yes, Webnix provides many add-on services for hosting customers including Mysql Database, ODBC Support, Domain Parking, Domain Forwarding, Cgi-bin, PHP, etc.

9. Does Webnix provide any benefits after joining hosting services?

Yes, customers join our hosting plans with one year prepayment, you can have a special discounts. In additons, hosting customers can take a discount on purchasing our products or IT Outsource maintenance. Details can be viewed at our services page.

10. Does Webnix provide boardband service?

No, We do not provide boardband services. But, if you request such services, we can offer our ISP partner to server your need.

11. Can I use connect Webnix email server if I use other ISP boardband?

Yes, you can.

12. What is CGI?ODBC?PHP?

  • CGI stands for Common Gateway Interface. It is a standard interface between external programs and web servers. CGI programs can produce dynamic information based on form data submitted by users or on any other data available to the program.
  • ODBC stands for Open Database Connectivity which is an Application Programming Interface (API) that allows programmers to abstract a program from a database. When programming to interact with the ODBC, programmers only need to talk the ODBC language (a combination of ODBC API function calls and the SQL language). Then ODBC Manager will know how to interact with the type of database they are targeting.
  • PHP is an HTML-embedded scripting language. Much of the syntax is borrowed from C, Java and Perl with some unique PHP-specific features. It allows web developers to write dynamically generated pages more efficient.

13. What should I do if I want to transfer my hosting account to Webnix?

You need to fill in the application form (pdf format) and fax to (852)2729-7751 or contact our account manager for enquiry of application form. Please tick the box "Domain Transfer" in the application form.

14. Can I have my own IP address for my hosting account?

Yes, you can. This services is addon services for customers with own IP address. Please contact our sales for enquiry of this service.

15. What should I do if I want to terminate my hosting account at Webnix?

Account owner needs to write a termination letter one month before and fax to us at (852)2720-8429 / (852) 2425-1826 with company chop or signature of account owner. Please write down the effective date of termination and domain name in the termination letter. All the advanced payment cannot be refunded.

16. How can I change the information of my contact information?

.You can fax, mail or email to our customer support department for your new contact information. Or, you can wirte down the new contact information at the back of billing statement/invoice and email (billing@webnix.com) or fax it back to our office address at (852) 2729-7751

17. What kind of ODBC driver we support in Windows platform?

For our system, we currently support the following drivers: Access, dBase, Excel, FoxPro ,SQL Server. For additional drivers, we will consider any request if necessary.

18. Can I access my domain name without "www" in front?

Yes, you will be able to access the domain address with or without the "www" in front of the domain name. Example: [http://www.yourdomain.com] or [http://yourdomain.com] is acceptable, whichever you prefer.

19. Do you maintain backups of my data?

Yes, we backup all hosting customers data daily and keep for last 7 days.

20. How can I pay the bills?

We accepts two types of payment method: By Cheque or By Bank Transfer
By Bank Transfer:
Transfer to the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HKBC) A/c# 593-300858-838 and fax bank receipt to us at Fax: 27297751
By Cheque:
Mail your crossed cheque to "Room 802, 8/F, Koon Fook Center, No. 9 Knutsford Terrace, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon" with attention: Accouting Department
(Cheque Pay To: Webnix Technology Limited)

21. What is hosting billing period?

Billing Period: One Year (Depending on hosting plans)

22. What should I do if I want to change hosting plan?

For changing hosting plans, you need to contact our sales or account managers and fill in the services amendment form. For downgrading hosting plans, you may need to pay $300 for downgrading setup fee.

23. How much will be charged additionally if the payment is overdue?

2% services charges will be added to your next billings for overdue payment.For enquiries details of billing policy, you can click here to view our billing policies.

24. What should I do if my account has been cut because of the late payment?

You need to contact our technical support for account re-opening. Customers need to settle the payment before re-activating the account.
